The Class 745 is a modern electric multiple unit (EMU) manufactured by Stadler between 2018 and 2020. It is a part of their FLIRT ("Fast Light Intercity and Regional Trains") family of trains, and are the longer, intercity counterpart of the Class 755. These trains are now operated by Greater Anglia on the Great Eastern Main Line (GEML) between London Liverpool Street and Norwich and on the West Anglia Main Line (WAML) between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport.

There are two subclasses, the 745/0 and 745/1; the 745/0 includes first class seating and an on-board café, whereas the 745/1 has a higher seated capacity and more room for luggage. Both trains are more accessible than most other rolling stock, with a low floor height and level boarding achieved with a retractable step. Common amenities for modern-day rolling stock, such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and bicycle storage, are all found on the Class 745.

They entered revenue-earning service on 8 January 2020 and replaced the Class 90 and Mark 3 carriage combination on the GEML and the Class 379 on the WAML.

Subclasses

There are two subclasses of the Class 745. The 745/0 is intended for operation between London Liverpool Street station and Norwich, whereas the 745/1 is intended for operation between London Liverpool Street station and Stansted Airport. Even so, Greater Anglia sometimes run 745/1s on the Great Eastern Main Line (GEML) and vice versa.

As detailed above, the 745/1s have greater seated capacity. This is because these trains lack a first-class compartment in coaches A and B. The 745/1s also do not have tables between facing seats, to make extra room for larger luggage, nor do these trains contain a café in coach C. Accessibility is otherwise the same between both subclasses.
