Avanti West Coast: January – May
Avanti West Coast services will be affected by industrial action every Sunday from 12 January to 25 May 2025. The action is being coordinated by the RMT union, which is in dispute with the company over Train Managers' rest day working arrangements.
Timetables on strike days will be significantly reduced and any trains that are running will likely be much busier. Reservations will be cancelled.
Tickets purchased before this series of industrial action was announced on 17 December 2024 are eligible for a full refund (without incurring the usual £10 admin fee). Alternatively, you may be able to travel on other days using the same ticket.
19 January 2025
Avanti West Coast tickets for travel on Sunday, 19 January can be used between Saturday, 18 January and Tuesday, 21 January.
Four trains will run per hour to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, and Preston. There will be a very limited service between Glasgow and Carlisle, but buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Preston due to planned engineering works.
No Avanti West Coast trains will serve North Wales, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Stoke-on-Trent, or Macclesfield.
Train service to and from London Euston will start later and end earlier than usual.
